In the "news that makes us angry" today, actress
Joey King posted about a passenger companion who thought she had cancer and treated
her badly because of that. The 19-year-old actress (who is currently wearing a
shaved head for a role) went on Twitter on Sunday, November 18 to share the series
of events. Kingg wrote: "I am all on a plane and this man next to me
literally reduced to me with the phone in his face and took a picture of me as
if he had not noticed and sent a text message to his wife saying that he would
sit next to a girl who has cancer (just because I am bald) and that she is
afraid of "catching it" ... YR PPL STUPID SUMTIMES ".
Y’all I’m on a plane & this man next to me literally turned to me with his phone in my face & took a photo of me as if I wouldn’t notice & texted his wife that he’s sitting next to a girl who has cancer (just cuz I’m bald) & that hes scared to “catch it”...Y R PPL STUPID SUMTIMES— Joey King (@JoeyKing) November 18, 2018
She followed up with another tweet (and a very appropriate
meme), writing: "I read your text message over my shoulder that said 'a
bald girl next to me with cancer of Fckn coughed and I do not want to infect
me' ... and jokin? "
I read his text over his shoulder it said “some bald chick next to me with Fckn cancer coughed and I don’t wanna catch it”.....um ya jokin? pic.twitter.com/y8omPjHNVI— Joey King (@JoeyKing) November 18, 2018
The Kissing Booth actress recently shaved her head for an upcoming role in The Act, a series of anthologies of Hulu's true crime about Gypsy Rose Blanchard. The movie will follow Gypsy Rose (King) as she tries to escape the toxic relationship she has with her mother Dee Dee (Patricia Arquette), who has Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
Then, no, rude passenger on the plane: not all shaving heads are
signs of cancer, nor can cancer be contagious remotely or something that you
should be cruel to. Since the American Cancer Society summit s out, "There
is no proof that close contact or things like sex, kissing, touching, sharing
food or breathing the same air can spread cancer from one person to
another."
