The willingness of a man to help a total stranger has pulled
the hunches of Internet users around the world.
A recent photo of a white man holding a black woman's baby
while filling out forms in a doctor's office went viral last week. The interaction
was captured by another patient in the waiting room, Matasha Brittenden Kilson
of Florence, Alabama, who shared the image on Facebook.
"Today I was in the waiting room in Doc's office and
this lady came in with her baby asleep!" Wrote Wilson in the legend.
"She was given her papers and while she was sitting there trying to figure
out how to hold her sleeping baby while she was filling out the papers, this
man, on the other side of the room, asks her if she would like him to hold her
baby while she did her paperwork She smiled and said it would be wonderful!
This man went there and tossed and liked that baby as if it were his! "
Wilson continued, "My heart melted! Racism is still
VERY real in our society today, BUT THIS MAN GAVE ME HOPE and a sweet memory
that I will never forget ... If you know this man, tell him how amazing he
is!"
Wilson, a mother of seven, told Good Morning America that
the man "sat down and buzzed him and rocked him until he was called to his
room." This was something I had never witnessed in my life ... People no
longer offer help to someone they do not know. "
The female in the photo has since been placeed as Zade West
and the man as Joe Hale. The name of West's son is Jayce Billings.
"I was relieved and appreciated for the fact that he
wanted to help. It seemed really genuine, "West recalled to the morning
program." He talked about how he never ceases to be a "leg and
another" and how he loved children and only about my baby in general.
Literally, he just loved him and spoke to him as if he were his own grandson
and had known him all his life. He was simply the sweetest. "
Kilson told GMA: "For a stranger, a whit man, he asks a
young black ma if she can hold her baby to help her, then the way she loved
that baby as if it were her own, almost puts me nervous". to tears every
time I think of the love you can see radiating from him for that baby. "
